Which passkey providers work?

Ones that support the WebAuthn PRF extension, which White Paper uses to derive its encryption key. Apple Passwords and 1Password both work.

Can I recover my photos if I lose my passkey or forget my pattern?

No. Both are part of the encryption and there is no reset, by design. Add a backup passkey in Settings to guard against losing one.

It says it needs an internet connection

After each install or update, iOS briefly checks online that White Paper may use its passkeys. Connect once and unlock; this is an iOS requirement.

Do backups include my vault?

Yes. iCloud and computer backups include your vault, still encrypted. Opening it after a restore needs your passkey and pattern.
